I started sewing about 10 years ago, after taking a class at In the Beginning (anyone else remember this awesome quilt shop that used to be on Lake City??). My taste tends to the "modern" style of quilting, and earthy colors. In the last decade, I've made quilts for just about every member of my family and many of my friends, but have never made one for ME!

I have been collecting fabric for this project for 2 years (thank you, Pink Door Fabrics, for being my "dealer"), and finally settled on the Rapid City pattern from Elizabeth Hartman's Modern Patchwork book. My first step was to do a color board (I've never done one before, but this is the biggest quilt I've made. Plus, it was fun!)

The Rapid City quilt is a modern spin on log house blocks and branches. Which is perfect, because I love me some trees and cabins :)

I'll post updates at each stage of this project!!
